Covers the basics of biology: ecology, cells, genetics, and evolution and their impact on the world and human body.

Second Year

Chemistry or Honors Chemistry

Anatomy and Physiology 

Covers the basics of chemical reactions: naming chemical compounds, creating chemical formulas, balancing chemical equations, predicting chemical reactions, and other topics pertinent to the human body including acid base reactions and pH. 
Provides an in-depth view of the human body's systems and how they work together. Dissection is featured.

Physics/ Honors Physics/ AP Physics

Medical Terminology
(1 semester online) 

Zoology

Examines motion, Newton's Laws, forces, and other topics which impact human bodies daily such as types of waves in medical imaging.
​​Covers principles of medical word building, categories of suffixes and prefixes, elements of medical work forming, and anatomical, physiological, and pathological terms.
Focuses heavily on the wide array of animal anatomy structure, systems, and taxonomy. Heavy emphasis on dissection. Particularly of interest for those looking into animal-related careers.​

Fourth Year

Field Ecology

Shadowing

Focuses on the biological processes of animals native to Kansas. Units include arthropods, fish, birds, mammals, and water fowl with a particular focus on the individual species' taxonomy. 
Double block class period devoted to shadowing different animal-related careers.

For Bio-Med Student 

Bio-Med students will take these courses along with the courses outlined above. (If Bio-Med option of course above is available Bio-Med student will that that course. Ex. BioMed Biology Honors)

​Principles of Biomedical Science (PBS)

Students will explore many health conditions, heart disease, diabetes and sickle cell anemia while using hands on projects to understand how medicine and biology work together through investigating a mysterious death. 

Second Year

Human Body Systems (HBS) - Offering tentative

Students will explore the body systems and how they work together and function. 

Third Year

Picture

Medical Interventions (MI)

Focuses on the ways to combat illnesses, diseases and the spread of them, students will also study the products that improve the lives of peoples affected.

Fourth Year

Biomedical Innovations (BI)

Students focus on the major PLTW objectives while researching and creating their senior project. ​
